Lightning Strikes a Butterfly

2002. 6" x 8" book. Edition of 27

Eight poems set by hand and nine relief prints all letterpress printed in approximately nine colors on mulberry paper. A theme of Xs and Os prevails. Tic-tac-toe, quilts (ninepatch), hummingbirds, children, parking spaces, and, of course, lightning and butterflies are referred to.

This book began with nine collagraphs and continued with linoleum cuts and wood type. After the prints were made most were used as inspiration for some prose that wanted to be poems instead. Side binding with waxed linen in a criss-cross pattern. Hardcover. Specify one of two cover colors or let me choose for you: purple with yellow thread or black with burgundy thread.
